'How to Promote Respect in your Child'
As parents we sometime make a BIG MISTAKE by thinking that our children are little people who are in need of protection and provision but not necessarily respected. Firstly, I must mention that I promote respect in my children by modelling respect for myself and for others. Simply...If Children feel they are respect ...they are better able to reciprocate respect.
I have tested and proven with my own children that using positive teaching and communication techniques such as 'clear instructions' 'praise' and modelling, have communicated respect ,hence, have resulted in enhancing my children's sense of self (self-esteem). These techniques are also effective in encouraging our children to accept responsibility for their actions (self discipline), in order to successfully function as adults in this society (social competence).
I am also confident that there is research to substantiate my claim that children are better able to develop a healthy sense of self and respect when they are raised with positive discipline approaches.
